Funny fights are not commonly seen in the MMA world. Of course there are many interesting fights, but there has to be some magic ingredient added to the mix to make from interesting fight an remarkable and funny fight.

Whenever you see Don Frye, Zuluzinho or Butterbean you know there is a good chance of some hilarious fight.

This page will be constantly updated with new content as I became aware of new or old funny fights that I somehow missed to mention. But this is just beginning, so lets get started.

Don Frye vs Takayama: This is legendary fight from Pride FC 21. Two hot shots with strong chin who came to bang out promised something spectacular before fight actually started. I have never seen so many punches exchanged in such a short period of time. This looks just like scene from some cheap ninja/karate B movie from late 80s. If you haven't seen this already, prepare yourself for a treat and if you saw this take a look one more time, this will put a smile on your face again, guaranteed. Kiai Master vs No Name MMA fighter: When I first stumbled on this video few years back on YouTube I laughed for 15 minutes as I replayed video at least 5 times. Kiai Master is some delusional old man in his sixties who claimed that he is undefeated in all 200 of his free style (vale tudo, fight with no rules) fights. He also claimed that he manipulated his own aura, "ki" energy, that he can heal arthritis via his bioenergy and whatnot. To cut a long story short, Kiai Master offered $5000 prize to anyone who can beat him in MMA fight. What happened when some anonymous MMA fighter accepted challenge you can see in my post Kiai Master here on this blog.

Zuluzinho vs Fedor: This fight is Pride FC classic. This is maybe first time I saw Zuluzinho ever. I think that Fedor like to fight with much larger fighters than him, because he is so quick for heavyweight, but also he pack a lot of strength in his punches so these big slow men are ideal target for him. What Zuluzinho endured in just 10 seconds you can watch here. Also check out my separate post about Zuluzinho, there are lot of funny photos and end of this fight as animated gif.

Don Frye vs James Thompson: You just gotta love Don Frye. He is a real man. He likes to exchange punches, doesn't think much of defense, ideal for raving fans waiting for bloodshed. Best part of this fight happened during stare down, you have to see this for yourself. Don't miss my post about this stare down, there is a nice animated gif of them - Don Frye vs James Thompson.

Marcus Aurelio vs Keegan Marshall: This fight was part of North American Challenge 24 (4.4.2009.). I have never seen capoeira moves in action during MMA fight. When I saw those moves I instantly thought that fight will be brutally over for "capoeira master" because they tend to leave a lot of openings during their attractive fighting moves. Something interesting happend... Crazy Capoeira Knockout video (separate post here on this blog).

Heath Herring vs Yoshihiro Nakao: This fight was over before judge gave mark to start. Fighters use a lot of different tricks to make psychological advantage over opponent during stare down, but this is something that you should never attempt. What trick Nakao tried to do, and how Heath responded see in my separate post Heath Herring vs Yoshihiro Nakao video. There you can find gif version of this video too.

Butterbean vs Zuluzinho: OK, here are two ultraweight fighters that look more like sumo wrestlers than MMA fighters. They didn't had to do anything spectacular and this would have been funny fight in spite of that. Really unexpected way of finishing opponent for such a big guy. Bas Rutten vs Frank Shamrock: This was very interesting fight between these MMA legends, with some mind games from Frank and unexpected dropping out of both fighters from ring. Don't miss my earlier post with funny animated gif of Frank face during ground fighting - Bas Rutten vs Frank Shamrock.

UFC 106 Tito Ortiz vs Forrest Griffin | funny fights

Tito Ortiz (Huntington Beach Bad Boy) lost to Forrest Griffin via split decision in main event of UFC 106 at Las Vegas. Early in the fight Tito Ortiz used takedowns, but Forrest neutralized that attacks, and soon Tito faded.

Third round was all Forrest Griffin. Judges scored 28-29, 30-27 and 29-28 for Forest Griffin.

Tito said at post-fight conference that he thinks that he was robbed and that he won two rounds, contrary what he said after the fight - “Forest was better man tonight”.

Both fighters had injuries during preparing for this fight. Ortiz hurt his neck and Griffin broke his foot.

Tito, one of the most popular MMA fighters, stated that he is a little rusted so that is to blame for his poor performance. He was out of octagon for 18 monts, after UFC departure and back surgery.

Tito won it their first fight via split decision at UFC 59, back in 2006.

Decision brought another controversy as one gave Griffin all rounds and another gave two to Ortiz. This was another controversial decision soon after Machida – Rua and Couture – Vera fights.

Bolo Yeung Chong Li Bloodsport shoops

Bolo Yeung is famous movie villain. Most of you remember him from movies such as Bloodsport, Double Impact and more. His best villain character is Chong Li from Bloodsport. Funny fights - Kiai Master

Kiai Master is self proclaimed MMA expert who offered reward of $5000 to anyone who can beat him in Mixed Martial Arts fight. He was also known for stating that he can manipulate with "ki" (chi, bioenergy), aura and heal rheumatism. Finally, he found potential victim and fight was set up for November 2006 in Hokkaido Sports Center in Sapporo.

Kiai Master stated before this fight that he has record of 200-0 in free style fighting (Vale Tudo). Take a look at this funny fight video and see for yourself if wise and mysterious Kiai Master easily defeated his young opponent (no name MMA fighter).

And a little statistic for the end: before his fight in Pride FC with Fedor, Zuluzinho was undefeated with record 15-0. After loss to Fedor, Zulu lost six and won two fights. His last fight was in December 2008. I hope we'll see him fighting again.

Largest controversy in recent MMA events was judges decision in Lyoto Machida vs Mauricio Shogun Rua fight at UFC 104 which put to background all other fights from that card. Machida won via unanimous decision 48-47, but most fans and MMA fighters thought that Rua won and he should become new light heavyweight champion. All of this couldn't past without appropriate shoops :)

Mirko Cro Cop had very bad performance in fight against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103.
